The Samsung Notebook 7 Spin has been announced by South Korean Tech giant – Samsung. The Notebook 7 Spin is a convertible Windows 10 based laptop which comes in 15.6-inch and 13-inch display sizes.
Despite pulling out of both Europe and Australia, Samsung is still selling laptops in the US and it’s doing a pretty good job of it. The Notebook 7 Spin is actually a range of the three different two-in-one laptops hitting Best Buy and Samsung’s online store on June 26.
Design, OS & Display
The 13 inch Samsung Notebook 7 Spin laptop measures 12.75 x 8.98 x 0.78 and weighs 1.76 kg while the 15.2 inch laptop measures 14.74 x 10.11 x 0.78 and weighs 2.2 kg. The versatile device runs on Window 10 out-of-the-box.
Just so you’d know, the “Spin” part of the name refers to the 360-degree hinge that lets you fold the screen all the way over for tablet mode or somewhere in between for tent mode whihc makes it a 3-in-1 laptop. By the way, the folding design is reminiscent of Lenovo’s Yoga line which sports the same capability.
Samsung is hyping up the Notebook 7 as being “designed for multimedia enthusiasts” and the company has a Video HDR mode built in that will sharpen and enhance colours and textures when turned on. All three models have a Full HD (1,920×1,080-pixel) screen.
Processor, Storage & Battery
The smaller 13.3-inch model is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and integrated graphics, while the larger 15.6-inch model uses an i7 alongside an Nvidia 940MX GPU.
All models have an HDMI port, a USB-C port, and three USB-A ports (two 2.0 and one 3.0), while the 15.6-inch model adds Ethernet. The 13.3-inch model has 8GB of RAM, and there are 12GB and 16GB variants of the larger model, the latter of which includes a 128GB SSD to supplement the otherwise standard 1TB HDD. It also has Intel HD Graphics 520 as well as auto-backlit keyboard.
The Samsung Notebook 7 Spin also supports fast charging, 20 minutes of charging extends battery life up to two hours. In just 90 minutes, the 15.6-inch notebook will be fully powered, while the 13-inch reaches a full charge in 100 minutes.
Connectivity & Weight
There’s a USB-C port across the board, along with two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 ports. If you’re wondering if there’s a drawback to all this, it’s probably in the weight. At 5 pounds for the big screen and 3.9 pounds for the smaller model, the Notebook 7 spin is pretty hefty, especially compared to the Samsung Notebook 9 which tips the scales at just 2.9 pounds.
