You can connect your Huawei P20/P20 Pro to TV through some methods. We will be detailing those methods involved in connecting your Huawei P20, P20 Pro, and P20 Lite to your TV.

There are 3 ways to connect your Huawei P20/P20 smoothly to your TV, regardless of your TV being smart or not. As long as it has an HDMI port, then you can get at least one these methods working for you.

How to connect Huawei P20/P20 Pro to TV

Try Using A USB Type-C To HDMI Adapter:

You will have to get a USB Type-C to HDMI cable from any local or online store. If you already have one then plug the HDMI end into your TV and plug the USB Type-C end to your phone. Follow the necessary prompt on the TV screen and set it up. After that, you are good to go. You can now watch Netflix, YouTube or do anything on your phone and have it mirrored on your TV screen.

Alternatively, if you can get a USB Type-C to HDMI adapter. You can get an ordinary USB to HDMI adapter and a USB to USB Type-C converter. Plug the HDMI end into your TV and Plug the USB end to the USB to USB Type C converter, then plug the converter into your device.

Cast Your Screen Using ChromeCast:

Setup ChromeCast

The Google ChromeCast needs no introduction as it has been around for a while now. It has been helping Android and iOS users cast or wirelessly mirror their screen to their TV set. ChromeCast is somewhat cheap and is by far one of the best mirroring methods I have seen. Casting your screen to your TV with Chromecast is very easy and I have written a comprehensive review on how to Setup ChromeCast.

Plug In Your Chromecast To your TV HDMI port and also plug it into a power source using an adapter. Connect your Huawei P20/P20 Pro to Chromecast using Wi-Fi through the Google Home App and you are good to go. This process also allows you to do other stuff on your device while casting your screen as long as the Google Home App is still running in the background.

MiraCast is a feature that is being built into recent smart TV sets that make wirelessly mirroring possible without the need of a software, or any other device like the Chromecast. If you have a smart TV, you might want to check and see if your TV has this feature. Turn the MiraCast On if it has. Now, Goto Your Phone’s Settings >> Display or More (depending on the OS) >> Turn On MiraCast and Select Your Smart TV from the list. It should take some time to complete but when it is done, your TV should start showing your Phone’s screen.

Now that you have successfully connected your Huawei P20/P20 Pro to TV, you can enjoy Streaming Live Football Matches On Your Mobile and be mirroring it to your TV. You can also play mobile games on your device and cast it to your TV if you like. You can do virtually do anything on your device and have it shown on your TV.

PART 2: It is an hassle-free device that just connects your phone to your tv in seconds. I love it! It does not need an internet connection at all and it comes with an hdmi (male/female) adapter cable (which you use in case the Screenbeam does not fit the back frame shape of your tv whre the hdmi sockets are placed) and a usb 2.0 to micro usb cable to power the device via the USB 5V/0.5A or 5V/1.0A socket of your tv. If your using while connected to a VPN services you could get problems while trying to connect,… Read more »

PART 1: Hi there again. In the last days I played around with my new Actiontec ScreenBeam Mini2 and I am quite impressed by this little piece of hardware. Unfortunately, it won’t stream DAZN nor Amazon Prime Video nor Netflix content due to their DRM content management implemented by the above mentioned apps in their latest updates which avoids wi-fi mirroring of video contents; it just streams audio and subs but no video. I contacted Actiontec support and they confirmed the issue as well as that it used to work flawlessly with the previous versions of those apps. I didn’t… Read more »

I own the Samsung usb type-c to hdmi adapter and I am able to watch Netflix from my huawei p20 pro on my TV. Netflix app on Android has no digital copyright restriction; on the other hand I’ve read that apps like SkyGo do have this restrictions, and the only way to cast images from phone to tv is to use the miracast through the Actiontec Screenbeam MINI2 (in case your TV does not support miracast, this device add the functionality to your tv) which I recently purchased and will get tomorrow. I’ll let you know if and how well… Read more »

Hi there, thanks for your explanations!
Would ScreenBeam mini 2 be the B. variant for your 3rd solution (MiraCast)?
I mean, being the p20 pro miracast enabled, one could also use ScreenBeam mini 2 to wirelessly mirror the phone to the tv without the need of a wi-fi home connection. Am I right?

Thank you, in case you find the time to answer this one.

The type C connector is not compatible with the Huawei p20 Pro, so his article isn’t really any good on that part. Not sure if you can stream videos via Bluetooth either and my TV isn’t a Smart TV

I purchased the samsung usb type-c to HDMI cable and I am able to stream and watch everything on my smart tv, make sure your tv (which you say is not smart, so it may be old) is actually HDCP compliant first! I testify the type-c to HDMI cable just works!
