Following the release of Acer Iconia W500, Acer released another tablet to continue the Acer Iconia series – Acer Iconia Tab B1-A71. This tablet is a more precise tablet as it comes as a tablet model rather than the Acer Iconia W500 that was a 2-in-1 tablet. The specs of this unit aren’t impressive, but we have to take note that the tablet is a budget device. Let’s briefly take a look at the specs of the unit as we proceed into the review of the Acer Iconia Tab B1-A71 tablet.

Acer Iconia Tab B1-A71’s design is a cool simplified one. Its frontal sports only the “Acer” logo at the top bezel. The tablet sports thick bezels on all sides. The rear of the tablet also has the “Acer” logo, but this time, it’s at the centre of the park. Beneath the “Acer” logo and towards the bottom region is the “Iconia B1” logo. At the right hand side of the tablet, the power button and volume keys are located. The dimension of the tablet is 197.4 mm x 128.5 mm x 11.3 mm. The tablet comes in a single black colour.
The screen size of the tablet’s display is 7.0 inches. The screen display type is the TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen. The tablet unusually has 256,000 colours. The screen resolution of the tablet’s display is 600 x 1024 pixels. This takes care of the clarity of images and texts on display. The tablet has a display area of 54.4% screen-to-body ratio. The pixel density of the display is 170 ppi, a very low one though. The screen’s display has the multi-touch capability.
I’ll simply put it this way, “this tablet wasn’t made for taking pictures nor recording videos”. There is no front camera which translates to no selfies. The rear camera which is provided has a low camera quality of 0.3 megapixels. This form of camera is outdated, I’ll say.
PROCESSOR AND OS
The tablet operates on the Android OS. Its processor unit is fair, as it sports the MediaTek MT8317 chipset. The CPU that powers it is a Dual-core Cortex processor. The two-core processor clocks at a low speed of 1.2GHz. The SGX531u handles the processing of graphics.
STORAGE AND RAM
An extreme low 512MB handles the running of apps and multi-tasking on the tablet. Once loaded with many apps, the tablet will lag too easily. The internal storage unit is the major highlight of the tablet. In its internal storage area, the tablet has two variants; one is 8GB and the other 16GB. The storage can still be expanded to 32GB with a micro SD card usage.
Acer Iconia Tab B1-A71 uses a non-removable Lithium Polymer 2,710mAh battery.
The price of Acer Iconia Tab B1-A71 is 100 euros. In US dollars, it goes for the price of US $120.
