Alcatel has done it again. The company has released Alcatel IdealXTRA as a new affordable smartphone for release on the stable of AT&T in October 2018. This smartphone could easily become a darling to people who don’t have much on their budget to buy a device.
However, only an examination of the specifications can justify the price of this device. To that end, we will take a look at the design, display, camera, hardware, battery, price, and other features of Alcatel IdealXTRA.
Design and Display of Alcatel IdealXTRA
Design type in the Alcatel IdealXTRA is mainly plastic. Dimensions are 69.6 x 147.3 x 9.4 mm. Moreover, it weighs 152 grams but it is not water resistant and comes in only gray color. Display type is IP capacitive touchscreen. The screen size is 5.34 inches and the pixels resolution is 480 x 960 of 16 million colors.
However, pixel density is 201 ppi, screen to body ratio is 72.01 percent, and the aspect ratio is 18:9. Other features include multi-touch up to 10 fingers, scratch resistance, Dragontrail glass. But there is no secondary display for this device.
At the camera department, there is a single 8 MP rear camera that comes with a plethora of features. There is dual LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. The video performance stands at [email protected] with FHD recording. Other camera features are autofocus, digital zoom, exposure compensation, HDR, ISO settings, Panorama, scene mode, self-timer, and more. However, there are no advanced features in here that we noticed.
The front camera is 5 MP shooter that does not have a flash attribute whatsoever. Features are not so rich like you have for the main camera. But it has f/2.4 aperture.
Hardware and Software of Alcatel IdealXTRA
Android 8.1 Oreo Operating System (OS) runs the Alcatel IdealXTRA on a modified user interface. This can later be upgraded to the latest Android 9 Pie. Additionally, there is MediaTek MT6739WM SoC chipset with process technology 28nm. Also, there is CPU Quad-core 1.1 GHz 4-Cores, and GPU PowerVR GE8100 2-Cores. These run on 64-bit architecture.
Internal memory is 2GB of RAM that cannot be increased. However, the internal storage is 16GB which can be expanded up to 128GB with the use of a microSD card. There is no fingerprint sensor in the Alcatel IdealXTRA but there are an accelerometer, proximity, and ambient light.
Alcatel IdealXTRA Network and Connectivity
There are 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. This means that the Alcatel IdealXTRA is able to operate through the GSM, WCDMA, HSDPA, and LTE. Yet, all of these need to work smoothly from Nano SIM cards placed in two slots in the mobile phone.
Other internet network components are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, hotspot, USB Type-C, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack, and more. However, there is no infrared or NFC in the mobile phone.
Powering the Alcatel IdealXTRA is a 2460 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. This comes without wireless charging, nor fast charging technology. But there is enough backup for the user all through the day.
Price and Availability
Price of Alcatel IdealXTRA starts at $90 USD. Buyers can get around that level but hardly lesser. As for availability, the product has been released in the month of October 2018 and is almost immediately available for purchase.
