According to the Taiwanese analysis firm TrendForce, Apple would be preparing to launch a new MacBook Air. This launching would take place “at the end of the third quarter”, which takes us already to some time of the month of September, even October, given the dates in which we are.

The MacBook Air still resists

In the same information, TrendForce also refers to a new MacBook Pro, although from MacRumors, Joe Rossignol says that “surely refers to the models launched in July, when the third quarter began”:

The second quarter was the transition period when Apple was preparing for the releases of the next new MacBook devices for the year. TrendForce, therefore, expects MacBook shipments to re-post a large QoQ increase in 3Q18, as Apple will launch a new MacBook Pro at the beginning of the quarter and a new MacBook Air at the end of the quarter.

The report does not provide additional details, but both popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg News reporter Mark Gurman expect Apple to launch a new entry-level notebook later this year, and they are two of the most reliable sources. which refers to Apple and its upcoming product launch plans.

TrendForce specifically points out that it will be a new MacBook Air model, but Kuo and Gurman have not identified exactly which model will be treated.

Earlier this year, DigiTimes said that Apple will launch the first MacBook Air with Retina display in the second half of 2018, and said it will be a 13-inch model. This week, he said that Quanta will assemble new “cheap notebooks” from Apple in the fourth quarter.

In any case, Gurman hopes that at least one of the entry-level laptops, if there are more than one, have an initial price of $ 999 or less in the United States, which would raise it slightly above one thousand euros in Spain. and in the rest of European countries.

Recall, finally, that the current MacBook Air range has not seen any substantial update in more than three years. Since then, Apple has withdrawn the 11-inch model, while the processor on the 13-inch base model received a small increase in clock speed, but it remains a Broadwell chip for the period 2014-2015.
