As the race of ultra-internet speed pushes internet providers and carriers to their creative limits. It seems that popular tech company Apple would not be sleeping around not doing anything only to play catch up because reports making the rounds say that Apple might just be releasing a 5G handset next year.

A report by Fast Company which recently surfaced online says that the world might be getting the 5G iPhones in 2020. The magazine which got its information from an unnamed source said that it has knowledge of Apple future plans on the development of 5G phones.

In the same report, t also stated that the company’s future lineup will feature Intel’s 10 nanometers 8161 modem chip.

While current tests show that the proposed chipset only performs slightly better than the older 8060 chip and still struggles with adequate heat dissipation. Sources say that Intel is confident it would be able to resolve the issue in time and get them in optimum and perfect working order before the proposed implementation date.

This move by Apple may prove to be the backbreaker in the cutting of the ties with Qualcomm whose modem they have used alongside Intel since 2016.

The year 2018 has seen the release of the 5G phones like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 so Apple will not be entering the 5G phone market as pioneers.

Apple may cut production of iPhone XS Max by 2019

The company’s decision for a further date might be related to the fact that not many people are aware of 5G and how it works. As we speak there are very few carriers around the world capable of providing 5G service for users. This would definitely change in a couple of years as more internet providers and carriers would have become able to provide 5G services worldwide and more people would have knowledge of 5G and what it is all about.
