The Activision announced its new game Call of Duty Mobile, an exclusive title for mobile devices that will be released for the operating systems Android and iOS. The new title of the popular franchise is being developed in partnership with the Chinese company Tencent, responsible for launching PUBG Mobile.
The developer even revealed that it delegated the task to Timi Studio, the developer herself who handled the mobile version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. The difference is that now they will have to work with new technology since CoD Mobile will use the Unity graphics engine – instead of Unreal Engine 4.
“We’re delivering the ultimate first-person action experience with a new mobile game with incredible graphics and visceral gameplay from Call of Duty. With this incredible team, we’re bringing a collection of maps, competitive modes, characters, and most beloved weapons this franchise full of history, in an epic mobile experience for the first time.”
– Chris Plummer, vice president of mobile products at Activision
So far, the companies have only confirmed the multiplayer mode of the game, with indications that they would be working in a Battle Royale mode. No release date has been flushed, but pre-registration is now possible to access the public beta as soon as it is released.
“Call of Duty is synonymous with incredible quality and gameplay, and our team could not be happier working with Activision to bring it to life on the mobile. With our expertise creating custom games for mobile players, we’re excited about delivering a new, resourceful Call of Duty experience for all types of fans.”
– Steven Ma, senior vice president of Tencent
