Fitbit Flex 2: Svelte Waterproof Fitness Tracker

The is the second fitness tracker in the Flex series since the original Fitbit Flex has been produced four years ago and it featured a simple, small body that is not crammed up with features. The Fitbit Flex 2 follows a similar trend maintaining the style as well as adding more features. The device is the first swim-friendly waterproof fitness tracker from Fitbit, all crammed up into a smaller band. At a price tag of $100, it is pretty much in the same price range as its predecessor.

It appeals to a set of customers who would prefer a tracker that is slim, waterproof and versatile. The Flex 2 has come a long way from its predecessor in terms of its simple form and easy usage. It is hardly noticeable on your wrist with its slim little tracker design. The device is about 30% smaller than the original Fitbit Flex. It is light and comfortable enough for you to forget on your wrist and wear all day long. Featured in the classic looking band is a soft texture elastomer that is so pliable and is easily clasped in place which is better than other devices with same but difficult clasp band.

The straps are interchangeable which means you can swap them out for the plenty available strap options. Unlike its predecessor, the new Flex 2 is more fashion oriented, and you could switch the bands for a pendant, bangles and a whole selection of seven classic looking bands. The colour available in the classic option are magenta, grey, navy, black, yellow, pink and lavender and it costs $14.95 only. Fancier options like the Luxe bangles in gold and rose gold for $99.95 and in silver for $89. The lovely little pendants come in gold ($99.95) and silver ($79.95) with a 17-inch chain size.

The device employs LED light to notify you of texts, calls and reminders. Raising your arm will make the vibration stop, however, for phone calls the light will keep flashing. It comes with a default pattern of vibration and light to help differentiate between alarms, text, calls, reminders to move and daily goals set, with no third party app supported here.

The Fitbit Flex 2 is capable of tracking calories burned, steps, active minutes, hourly activity and sleep monitoring. All of these are auto-detected using the SmartTrack feature. At the moment running, outdoor bike rides, walking, elliptical, aerobic workouts are the exercise that can be auto-tracked. Also, sports like basketball, soccer and tennis can also be tracked automatically. The number of steps taken and also the specific number of goals can be checked by heading to the app.

One of the strong suites of the Fitbit Flex 2 is the swim tracking and the fact that it can be worn up to 50m in water. Swimming is also auto-tracked alongside duration and laps of four strokes monitored which are breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle and butterfly. After which you get an overview of the amount of time you spent in the pool, calories burned, pace distance and overall impact on your day.The Fitbit Flex 2 battery lifespans for an average of 5 days considering it does not have a screen for notification, it was expected to last for some days longer. However, without notification, it lasts about nine days for only activity tracking.
