Can’t Find “Payments” Option in WhatsApp on iPhone and Android? Try Out This Simple Trick to Bring It ON

Solution #1: Update Your Whatsapp to the Latest Version

Step #1. First of all, you need to update the Whatsapp installed on your device to the latest one. If you haven’t done that already. To do so, follow the steps below.

On your iPhone:

  1. Go to the App Store.
  2. Tap on Updates at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap on the Update button beside Whatsapp.

On your Android Device:

  1. Go to the Play Store.
  2. Tap on the menu button at the top left corner of the screen.
  3. Tap on “My apps & games” and then tap on the Update button net to Whatsapp.

Step #2. Once the app has finished updating, launch it.

On your iPhone:

Tap on the Settings tab at the bottom of the screen. Here, you should see the “Payments” option.

On your Android device:

  1. Tap on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Tap on Settings. Here you should see the Payments option now.

Solution #2: Tell A Friend to Attempt to Send You Money

If after updating the app you still can’t find the peer-to-peer money transfer feature in the messaging app, you should ask one of your friends (who is able to use the feature) to attempt to send you money using the feature.

On iPhone:

  1. Open Whatsapp.
  2. Open the conversation and then tap on the “+” button.
  3. Next, tap on Payment.

On Android:

  1. Open Whatsapp.
  2. Open the conversation and then tap on the clip icon.
  3. Next, tap on Payment.

If your friend taps on Payment on his device, he will get a notification on his device saying something like, “XXX needs to update Whatsapp to be able to receive money.”

Now, force quit Whatsapp if it is open on your device.

On your iPhone: Double press the Home button to bring up the App Switcher. Swipe up on the Whatsapp app card to force quit it. On your iPhone X, swipe upwaeds from the gesture bar and hold. Next, tap and hold on the Whatsapp app card and then either swipe up on the app card or tap on the “-” red icon to close the app.

On your Android Device: Tap on the App Switcher/ Overview button (On most Android phones, the app switcher button is at the bottom left corner) and then swipe the card to the side to force quit it.

Next, you need to restart your device. Once your Android/iOS device has rebooted, launch Whatsapp and check if the Payments option is in the app now.

Most probably, the option will be there. Now you can send and receive money via Whatsapp!

  1. I agree that money transfer is getting simpler day by day… but sounds ridiculously dangerous to me… I’m only happy to take the tedious route to transfer money than making it so simple.
