The flagship series 2018 goes into the next round and today the Huawei Mate 20 Pro competes against the brand new OnePlus 6T.

The flagship Springtime series became the flagship year of 2018 with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the winner of the first half could claim its place. But last week the Huawei P20 Pro was replaced by the Mate 20 Pro. This is now against the OnePlus 6T.

What is the Flagship Year 2018 about? In this series, my current Android favorite competes against the more recent flagship. As you know, the best smartphone does not exist, so it’s a purely subjective comparison. At the end of 2018, I will choose the winner.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T: design and feel

Both feel good, both are high quality, both fit well in the hand – there is a draw. The Mate 20 Pro has the new Twilight super, the 6T black matte. There is no winner for me in this category – or both.

  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T = 1: 1

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T: Display

Both have an almost 6.4-inch OLED display, but the Mate 20 Pro resolves a bit higher (QHD + instead of FHD +). Both are similarly bright, have good viewing angles, a narrow bezel, and a good color representation.

The Notch of the 6T is smaller, but there is much more technology in the Mate 20 Pro. A conclusion is very difficult for me, although I find the flat display of the OnePlus 6T a bit more pleasant, the brightness of the Mate 20 Pro is slightly higher. I could not decide a tie.

  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T = 2: 2

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs. OnePlus 6T: Software

The clear winner here is the OnePlus 6T. Both are supplied with Android 9 Pie, but I like the UI of OnePlus much better. In addition, one has shown a better update policy for older models so far.

A unique point.

  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T = 2: 3

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T: Camera

Again, there is a clear point, but for the Mate 20 Pro is the winner. This has the clearly superior camera in all areas. Clear result for me, even if the OnePlus 6T is not bad.

  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T = 3: 3

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T: Battery

Something harder for me to judge is the battery because the running time of the OnePlus 6T is similarly good for me despite the smaller battery. But the Mate 20 Pro has even faster charging, the battery is slightly larger in the end and there is Qi. Therefore, this point goes to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T = 4: 3

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T: Other

The last category is all about little things and extras and here the OnePlus has no chance. The Mate 20 Pro can not only score with extras like the 3D scanner, but it also has the sensor under the display, but you get the usual standards in a flagship: an IP68 certification and stereo speakers.

In addition, you can expand the memory and there is Qi, which I have already mentioned the battery. Therefore, we now have a final score:

  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T = 5: 3

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs OnePlus 6T: The conclusion

The conclusion is a bit more difficult than the score suggests. That’s because the software is a very important point for me and OnePlus in this category is way better for me than Huawei. Clear.

But for the rest of the package, the 6T has no chance against the Mate 20 Pro and I miss important features such as Qi and stereo speakers. The price scores OnePlus very clear, but I would still pay the surcharge for the model of Huawei. But I’m also a geek who cares.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro was able to defend his place in the second battle, which is mainly because I miss the same things on the OnePlus 6T as in the 6 Series. It’s a great smartphone, but it’s getting more expensive from half-year to half-year, and the differences are still “high up”.

But if you now slowly set a limit on the price increases and the OnePlus 7 not only further optimized, but also eliminates vulnerabilities, then 2019 will look very different. I already had this hope with the 6T, but the difference to the 6er was too small.

No chance against the progress of Huawei. To me. Keep in mind, especially with this kind of report: this is a very personal set of mine.
