Google & Huawei Stop Smart Speaker Project After US Trade Barriers

Smart speaker market is now dominated by Amazon and Google. Through a smart speaker, users can read emails, instruct connected devices and listen to music using voice commands. According to a report in The Information, Google and Huawei have canceled their smart speaker project following trade barriers imposed by the US.

Originally this smart speaker will launch at the Berlin IFA event in September. All development processes have been halted since May when Huawei was banned from trading with US companies. It was supposed to be Huawei's first smart speaker using Google Assistant.

Two years ago AI Cube smart speaker was launched but using Alexa was followed by Ai Speaker using their own operating system. The status of this Google-Huawei project is unknown but may continue shortly after the US government-approved resumption of business license.
