The Guophone V88 smartphone is a budget friendly rugged smartphone that has been launched by Guophone. The company also stated that this is one of the cheapest rugged smartphone around, even though it has IP68 certifications.
As stated above, Guophone focused more on the rugged aspect of the device, than its specs. It comes with just 8GB storage and 1GB RAM, there’s a Quad-Core processor underneath and an 8MP rear shooter. Lets see what else the Guophone V88 has to offer.
You will definitely know it’s a rugged smartphone at first glance, there’s a combination of Polycarbonate and Metal at the rear. This forms a solid and strong body to actively repell all shock and dusts. Overall it’s available in Black with Yellow or Green finishing.
It’s also water resistant, but don’t even think about leaving it underwater for more than 15 minutes. At the top, we can see the rear camera with the LED flash right beside it. It measures 14.5mm in thickness and weighs 197g overall.
The V88 is built around a smaller screen, which will definitely not appeal big screen lovers. On the top, the top bezels are very thick with no important feature on it. The screen could have been a little bit taller if the top bezels doesn’t exist.
The tiny 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is small obviously, but not that bad as well. It boasts of 540 x 960 pixels in resolution and 275 pixel per inch density for clear enough visuals. Apart from dishing out a 16:9 aspect ratio, it stretches up to 55% screen to body ratio as well.
Hardware and Software
Running the race here; is the Mediatek MT6580 chip with an Quad-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 4-Cores of processor here clocks at a smooth speed of 1.3GHz with 28nm process technology. While the ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics processor handles graphics.
There’s 1GB of RAM available to handle all your light multitasking, it has a memory speed of 533MHz as well. Store your files in the 8GB of storage and upgrade up to 32GB whenever you want. The Guophone V88 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with modified user interface.
The 8MP rear camera captures photographs of 3264 x 2448 pixels in dimension. It comes with a lot of features as well, shooting videos of 1080p@30fps. For selfies, the 2MP selfie camera takes care of selfies.
Powering the Guophone V88 is a 3200mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2.4 hours.
