How Can I Mirror My iPhone To My TV Through Apple Peer To Peer Airplay?

The most recent versions of the Apple TV, like the Fourth-Generation Apple TV, or Third-Gen Apple TV’s Rev. A, will support Peer to Peer Airplay without Wi-Fi. If you own a Third Generation Rev. A, it needs to be running on Apple TV Software 7.0 or newer.

Also, you must have an iOS phone that is at least a 2012 model or newer, and it should be running at least iOS 8 on it. Sadly, Peer to Peer Airplay is not supported in older devices. Screen mirroring can be used on these ancient devices, but a Wi-Fi connection will be needed.

If the required devices are available, simply adhere to these instructions for screen mirroring through Peer to Peer Airplay:

1. Disconnect Your Apple TV And iOS From Any Wi-Fi Network:

Peer to Peer Airplay functions outside of Wi-Fi and might not work if any of your devices are connected to a network. On Apple TV, Wi-Fi might be disabled by heading to “Settings”, tapping “Network,” then tap “Wi-Fi.” If Apple TV is linked to any network, it will be revealed here. Tap on the name of the present Wi-Fi network, then tap “Forget Network.’

Or on iOS, head to “Settings,” locate “Wi-Fi,” and then tap on it to view the connection info. Tap “Forget Network.” to disconnect from it. Be aware that forgetting the network is compulsory for the devices to not automatically reconnect to your Wi-Fi. You will have to remember both your Wi-Fi’s SSID and password if you wish to reconnect to it in the future. Do not continue if you do not know either your Wi-Fi’s SSID or password.

2. Connect Both Devices To Bluetooth:

Since Peer to Peer Airplay is a wireless function, Bluetooth is required for it to communicate with each other. As you already know, Bluetooth is on by default on Apple TV, but you can check your iOS if it is enabled by scrolling down and clicking on the Bluetooth icon.

3. Enable Wi-Fi On Your iOS:

Enabling this will engage the Peer to Peer Airplay. You do not have to be connected, but it should be turned on. Airplay Controls would be seen as “Screen Mirroring” on the Control Center. If it is not visible, try to move the devices closer together. If that is not successful, you can restart your iOS device.

4. Enjoy:

As soon as Screen Mirroring is seen, click on it. Your Apple TV would be listed. If you are asked for a connection password, it would be visible on your television screen too. Type that in to enable the feature and it will immediately be possible to mirror the screen to your TV.

Using The Apple Lightning Connector To HDMI Port?

Another way to mirror your screen would be connecting both devices with a cable. The Apple Lightning Connector will connect your iOS device via its bottom port then through an HDMI cable. Simply connect one of the ports to your device, attach an HDMI cable to your television, plug it onto the Lightning connector, and your display would be instantly mirrored to your television.

This is a good solution if you are fine with dealing with wires. Also, Apple TV is not needed to make this work. Just make sure your TV has an HDMI port, and it should work. If you are done with mirroring, simply disconnect the cables.

That is that.
