What is Samsung Smart Call?

Samsung Smart Call (also Known as Smart Call and Hiya) identifies and notifies you of spam/Spoof calls. Samsung calls its own version the Smart Call which doesn’t come activated out of the box but you can turn it on if you want. This Samsung Smart Call comes pre-installed on the Dialer/Phone App in the following Samsung Devices; Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S7 active, S8, S8+ S8 active and The Note 8.

However, if you use any of the older Samsung phones or any other phone that isn’t listed above. You can simply Download the Hiya App from the Google play store which basically does the same thing.

The Samsung Smart Call utilizes the Hiya Database for detection of Spam Calls/Callers. Once turned on, it immediately swings into action. Now, the Smart Call Feature doesn’t identify all spam calls but it has more than 60% success rate. This is because it depends on other users like you to report suspected spam calls to update the database.

Although, it is still better than most and highly efficient. So if you would like to make it better, report any spam calls you to get.

  1. When I toggle it off, does it turn off my caller id with my provider plan? Cos it seems to not give the any Caller ID when I do turn it off, making a call from my home phone. And when the setting is on, the Caller ID is wrong. I tried making a call from my home phone to different people and the name displayed all matched. (they’ve aren’t using the Smart service or Hiya)

  2. I have an S8, am I the only person not seeing this option in the settings menu og the galaxy phone app? Was it removed with the oneui update?
