If you FaceTime regularly on your iPhone or iPad, you would probably notice that the button which was used to flip the FaceTime camera in the Preview is longer there. So how do you now perform this action? In this guide, we will show you how to lip FaceTime camera on iPhone or iPad running iOS 12.

Fortunately, you can still flip the FaceTime camera in iOS 12. However, it is not very intuitive and it involves more steps to do it. Apple seems to have changed the user interface so that users can use Animoji during FaceTime calls.

How to Flip FaceTime Camera on iPhone or iPad in iOS 12

  1. First off, Go to the new Control Panel. To do this, tap on the screen in the middle of a FaceTime call. A menu with three buttons will appear on the screen. The buttons include mute, cancel and a button with three dots for other extra options.
  2. Tap on the button with three dots.
  3. Now, a menu which covers the entire screen will appear.
  4. Now, tap on the hidden flip button to flip the camera.

That’s it. This will flip the camera from the selfie camera to the rear camera.

To flip back to the selfie camera, simply follow the steps above.

What used to require just a single tap now require three steps to be done. Another issue with the new FaceTime user interface is that the Control Panel from which you can flip the camera covers almost the whole screen and as such, you are not very sure if the camera has flipped or not. If you love to flip your camera a lot while making FaceTime video calls, you are going to find this change quite annoying.

Hopefully, Apple fixes this feature in a future update. In the meantime, we have to wait and make do with the way it is now. so what do you think of this change? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
