LED notification light is not to be confused with ambient light display. Although both have to do with notification but are two different things entirely.
In the case of ambient light display, your phone, whether locked or unlocked lights up as soon as you get a notification. The whole screen comes on so as to help you see the new notification. This might or might not lead to numerous pocket dials if you phone isn’t locked.
While in the case of LED notification light, the screen stays off. The only thing that blinks is the LED Light. The LED light can blink different colours depending on the notification and type of customization you’ve done.
