A Virtual Private Network is a software-based connection between two points, encrypting all data sent and received. VPN is a useful way to protect your online activities from snoopers online, as well as giving you access to contents that are restricted in your location.

A VPN can disguise the location of your device and can make it look like you’re logging in from a different location. This is useful because it provides an excellent privacy, your online activities cannot be monitored, and you can bypass regional restrictions on services like Twitter and Netflix.

There are two main types of VPN services available – free and subscription-based service. Free VPN comes with certain risks, your data could be sold to third-party companies. That’s why we recommend using a subscription-based VPN

How to use VPN on Android

  • To get started, go to the Google Play Store and search for your preferred VPN service provider.

ExpressVPN” offers a very affordable subscription model.

  • Download the App, then select “Open” after the installation is completed.
  • Next, you’ll need to set up an account, select the trial option and enter your email address. The trial option lasts for only 7 days, after which you will need to subscribe to continue using it. you will also be asked for permission to configure your VPN.
  • To enable the VPN, just open the App and you’ll be presented with a button at the center to turn the VPN on or off.

You will also find the recommended server location. To change your server location, just tap on the ”Choose location” button. This is useful for those who want to access contents that are restricted in their location. Let’s say you want to watch Netflix from other countries, you simply select a server in that country. It is also useful for people with slow connections, as a result of heavy traffic on a particular server.

Now you can surf the internet on your Android device in the knowledge that all your activities are hidden from snoopers.

NOTE: you might experience slow-down in the speed of your connection, this is due to the encryption and rerouting of your data.
