HTC may have lost their foothold in the mobile space over the past couple of years, but just like Sony they are making rebranding themselves and coming back at it with full force.
Their latest devices have been magnificent but overlooked due to the presence of cheaper brands and the enormous popularity of the now more prominent ones. All that is about to change as HTC seek to regain its consumer base with the release of a breathtaking and price friendly DESIRE 10 series.
DESIGN & DISPLAY
Needless to say, HTC has always had powerful smartphones; They were the original pioneers of the full metal unibody design and the HTC Desire 10 Pro is quite the beauty.
The simple design returns but with a couple of adjustments such as the network band that goes across the both sides and the top and bottom of the HTC Desire 10 Pro back. The sides of the devices feature protruding volume rockers and power button. On the back is the HTC logo with a fingerprint scanner just above it, the camera which is placed at the top right corner of the devices back.
The front of the HTC Desire 10 Pro is marked by a gorgeous 5.5 inches 1080 x 1920 pixels (400 PPI) Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen and three capacitive navigation keys. Corning Gorilla Glass protects the display. The device weighs 165 g and is 7.9mm thick.
OS & HARDWARE
The Desire 10 Pro is said to ship Android Marshmallow v6.0 upon its release, but quick software changes could be made to the units, and the device could ship with Android 7.0 Nougat. The Desire 10 Pro will run HTC’s Sense UI.
The MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 (8x Cortex-A53, up to 2.0GHz) with the Mali-T860 is the chipset that the phone runs on, this is paired with 4Gb of ram and 64Gb of onboard storage. There is also space for SD card expansion of up to 256Gb.
CAMERA & BATTERY
HTC have never taken it easy on the camera, and users will be treated to a 20mp camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 28mm lens. The fun continues as the device features laser autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, Auto-HDR, panorama and a 1080p@30fps videoing capability.
Up front, we have a new 13mp selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture, 28mm lens, 1080p video shooting quality and Auto-HDR.
A Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery which does not blow up should suffice users through a full days use and with quick charge support. There have been no complaints about low battery life.
CONNECTIVITY, FEATURES & PRICE
The Desire 10 Pro supports all 2G, 3G and 4G network bands internationally, the device also hosts WiFI (802.11 a/b/g/n), (dual-band, WiFi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth (v4.2, A2DP, LE), NFC and GPS.
There is a fingerprint scanner available for security as well as accelerometer, proximity and compass sensors.
Nothing substantial is known about the pricing of the device, but we expect it to go for around $350-400, the device will be available in October and will launch in Stone Black, Polar White, Royal Blue, Valentine Lux.
