Huawei has launched the Huawei Honor 8 Smart in India, adding yet another smartphone to its Honor series of smartphones. The Huawei Honor 8 Smart was launched in India today alongside the Honor 8 at an event in the country.
The Huawei Honor 8 Smart is a variant of the Honor 8 with a reduced price and equally reduced specifications. When you compare the specifications of the Honor 8 Smart and Huawei Honor 5C, you would discover that both devices are very similar, even though the Honor 8 Smart is costlier.
Huawei Honor 8 Smart Specifications
Display & Design
The Huawei Honor 8 Smart has a 5.2-inch IPS display which offers wide viewable angles. It has a Full HD (1920 * 1080) pixel resolution, a 1500:1 contrast ratio and a maximum brightness level of 405 nits.
The body of the device is manufactured with Aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, and a 76.4% screen-to-body ratio ensures that you get enough screen real estate to perform activities like reading and watching videos.
Memory & Performance
The Huawei Honor 8 Smart is powered under the hood by a Kirin 650 processor which runs on the 16nm process, has eight Cortex-A53 processors and a maximum processing speed of 2GHz. The processor is assisted by a Mali T830 GPU which handles the graphics operations on the device.
The smartphone comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory which can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.
The Honor 8 Smart packs a 3,000mAh battery which Huawei claims can give up to 1.3 days of battery life even when used heavily.
The Huawei Honor 8 Smart comes with a single SIM slot which supports 4G LTE network bands. It also comes with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n for wireless connections, Bluetooth 4.0 LE which allows you to transfer files wirelessly with reduced power consumption, and GPS for navigation.
The smartphone sports a 13MP camera at the rear which employs the use of a LED flash when it’s too dark for it to capture clear images. The main camera uses a Sony IMX214 sensor and has a f/2.0 aperture to regulate and filter incoming light. The camera packs five lenses inside which greatly improves the quality of pictures taken by it.
The 8MP front camera doesn’t have a LED flash but also possesses a f/2.0 aperture like its partner at the rear.
Software and Hardware
The Huawei Honor 8 Smart has a 3.5mm audio jack at the top and packs an HiSilicon Hi6402 24-bit DAC (Digital-to-Audio Converter) which uses a Smart PA amplifier to deliver high-quality audio. The device sports a fingerprint sensor at the back for security purposes.
The Huawei Honor 8 Smart runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with version 4.1 of Huawei’s EMUI layered on top, offering software tweaks and customizations.
