The Huawei Nova 3 has been released by the company a week early ahead of its launch. The device is now available for pre-order on VMall with all its specs and features revealed. It is AI-powered, thanks to the EMUI 8.2 and the flagship Kirin 970 chip.
The update to the Nova 3e has an octa-core processor clocking at 2.4GHz max with 6GB RAM and the usual 64GB/128GB storage. The Nova 3 also boasts 4 cameras, GPU Turbo feature, 3D Qmoji and impressive app optimization. Lets find out more.
In this article we talk about:
The Nova 3 has an aluminium alloy overall unibody that reflects light beautifully and amazingly well. It looks like the P20 Lite from the rear, coming with a rear fingerprint scanner for fast biometric access.
While the dual rear camera are vertical by the left with the LED flash coming underneath. Furthermore, it measures 7.3mm in thickness and weighs just 166g overall. It’s available in Black, Blue, Purple and Gold colors.
From the front we can see the notched screen, however, it looks like the notch has been increased compared to what we saw on the P20 series. This might have been done to accommodate the two selfie cameras. Nonetheless, the bottom chin has been greatly reduced.
You also get a taller 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, this boasts of 1080 x 2340 pixels in resolution and 409 pixel per inch density for clear visuals. The screen dishes out a 19.5:9 ratio and stretches up to 84.2% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
It’s powered by Huawei’s most powerful smartphone chip, the Hisilicon Kirin 970 with its 10nm process technology. Its 8-cores of processor clocks at 2.4GHz max, while the Mali-G72 MP12 graphics processor is clocked at 850MHz.
For multitasking, there’s a massive 6GB of RAM for your heavy workload with a memory speed of 1866MHz as well. There are two variants in terms of storage, there’s one with 128GB and a cheaper variant with 64GB. The Huawei Nova 3 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2.
At the rear, you get the same dual camera set-up on the Honor 10. A dual 16MP + 24MP shooters, both has f/1.8 aperture with gyro-EIS, PDAF, LED flash and other features like touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. It also shoots 4K videos @30fps. While the dual 24MP + 2MP (depth sensor) selfie camera is perfect for portrait selfies.
Powering the Huawei Nova 3 is a 3750mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2 hours.
