Huawei's Petal Search

In case you don’t know, the Petal Search that we can find on any Huawei smartphone today was created as a kind of temporary solution to counter the effects of the ban imposed by Donald Trump… That is, a solution for the disappearance of the Google Play Store.

Well, in a very curious way, everything indicates that this solution will actually be Huawei’s big bet for the future.

Huawei wants to rival Google with Petal Search

So it seems that the team behind Huawei Petal Search now has an added responsibility, as the Chinese giant wants the project to be the future in looking for apps on Huawei smartphones.

A curious statement, given that Huawei is currently suffering a little from all the bans on it… In fact, in the worst possible scenario, the Chinese giant may even abandon the production of smartphones to focus on IoT and portable products. But this is really on the edge! Personally I do not believe that it is even a possibility on the table for the smartphone giant, which curiously, even reached the top of this same market during the pandemic.

However, taking all this into account, betting strong and ugly on Petal Search might even be a great idea on the part of Huawei. However, competing with Google seems (yet) to be an overly optimistic goal.

But let’s get down to business.

Huawei wants to expand Petal Search! In short, make way for the market’s new search engine

Thus, everything indicates that Huawei wants to take the work already done in Petal Search, to take it to a significantly higher level. That is, very briefly, Huawei wants to plug the holes left by Google! With your own effort, work and talent.

In this way, Petal Search may well become a rival to Google. This is as long as Huawei manages to move the pieces it has on the board well.

For now, Petal Search only supports search for news, images, videos, products, and flights. However, despite improvements in service, this survey does not always work 100%.

Still, according to what we learned at the recent Huawei Developer Conference, the company has every intention of continuing to invest in new APIs, as well as other improvements to the service, promising to bring four new categories to the search in the near future.

However, it is expected that the service will be launched globally. However, there are still no specific dates for absolutely nothing. (I believe it is a gradual release)
