Shortly after releasing the Infinix Note 3 and Infinix Hot S, Infinix Mobility has released the Infinix Hot 4 into the market. The Infinix Hot 4 is a successor to the Infinix Hot 3, and the device was released into the smartphone market without pre-teasers or leaks, which are the norm when a smartphone is about to be released.

Of course, the Infinix Hot 4 is better than the Hot 3 in almost all sectors including security, battery, camera and software.

Infinix Hot 4 X557 Specifications

Display & Design

The form factor of the Infinix Hot 4 is just like that of other phones in the Hot series; straight bar with slight curves at the edges. The back of the Hot 4 has colourful 3D Texture designs to make it fit snugly into your hands, while providing entertainment for the eyes.

It sports a 5.5-inches HD LED display with 720p resolution; the quality can be determined from that of the other Infinix Hot phones. The Hot 4 however provides even sharper and clearer representation of images with the refined XOS user interface bundled along with it.

Memory & Performance

Powering the Infinix Hot 4 is a MediaTek 6580 processor with four Cortex processing cores and maximum speed of 1.3GHz. Assisting this is a Mali 400 GPU.

The phone comes with 2GB of RAM only and 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32GB with a micro SD card. Other phones in the Infinix Hot series have always come with 1GB and 2GB RAM variants, but with the Hot 4 having 2GB RAM as its base variant, it is unclear whether there would be other variants as time progresses.

The Infinix Hot 4 features a large battery capacity, 4,000mAh which is capable of taking you through a day even with heavy usage. The phone comes with a 5V/2A power adapter for fast charging, and coupled with Marshmallow and XOS’s battery saving features, you can never run out of power.

It is quite disappointing that the Infinix Hot 4 doesn’t come with 4G LTE connectivity, but like in the Hot 3, it is possible that a variant with that capability would be released in the future.

The phone comes with two separate micro-SIM slots and one micro SD card slot, which can be used to expand the internal storage to 32GB. It also has Wi-Fi Tethering and Bluetooth capabilities.

Photography is great with the Hot 4; it has an 8MP camera at the rear with 5P lens, and a 5MP camera at the front.

Software and Hardware

The Infinix Hot 4 boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow from the box, on which the refined Infinix custom UI XOS is built. The version of XOS that comes with the Hot 4 has come a long way from the initial versions, featuring advanced custom themes, efficient power saving modes and Freezer to keep those resource-hungry apps in check.

For extra security, the Infinix Hot 4 features a fingerprint scanner that eliminates the need to form and memorise complex pass codes; with just one touch, you’re good to go. It is located at the back just below the camera module, making it easy to lock your phone while bringing it out of your pocket or picking it up from the desk.

Still on the hardware side, the Hot 4 packs two high-quality stereo speakers which utilise advanced noise reduction technology for improved sound quality, the technology of which Infinix has dubbed Smart Voice.

In all, the Infinix Hot 4 is one smartphone that would suit the middle-class buyers with advanced and modern features.
