iPhone XS VS iPhone X: Design

You will be surprised that the iPhone XS, apart from the S branding still maintain the design of the iPhone X. Both phones feature a glass sandwich design with a notch cut into the top of the 5.8-inch OLED screen.  However, the iPhone XS is available both in space grey or silver, while only the iPhone Xs comes in gold. That aside, when it comes to the casing, the iPhone XS is covered with a tougher glass, so it will survive little fall than the later.

The iPhone X is water resistant and it can be submerged in shallow water up to a meter deep and for up to half an hour without damage. This feature has been upgraded on the iPhone XS. Now the iPhone has IP68 certified like the Galaxy Note 9 and it can survive up to 2 meters for the same period as the iPhone X. So in this category, the point goes to the iPhone XS.

iPhone XS VS iPhone XS: Display

On the display, you won’t get any winner, because both phones sport the same 5.8-inch OLED screen with a 2,436 × 1,125-pixel resolution. Their display is sharp, bright, and boast accurate colors.  They have 19.5:9 which gives a widescreen and they has 82.9 percent screen to body ratio which is one of the highest ever around the world.

iPhone XS VS iPhone X: Camera

Thanks to the dual lens on the iPhone X. Even the iPhone XS still maintain the same dual rear camera. Here you will get two 12-megapixel lenses, both with optical image stabilization (OIS), but one has a f/1.8 aperture while the other has a f/2.4 aperture and supports 2× optical zoom.  These cameras are capable of capturing great shots in a wide variety of different situations.

You can capture great portrait shots with blurred backgrounds, and the iPhone Xs allows you to adjust the depth of field after taking a shot. The front-facing camera is 7MP and they both support TrueDepth which enables the FaceID to work so securely and also allows Animojis and Memphis to work perfectly. Ultimately, the iPhone Xs has a faster Secure Enclave and an algorithm update, which means FaceID should work just a little faster than the iPhone X.

iPhone XS VS iPhone X: Performance and Battery

One of the notable features of the iPhone XS is the latest A12 Bionic processor. This is an upgrade and the new chip is faster and more power-efficient than the A11, which you’ll find in the iPhone X. According to Apple, it’s 15 percent faster and 40 percent more power-efficient. That said, there is an improved Neural Engine in the A12 Bionic, along with augmented reality and graphical improvements that will give gamer’s an excellent performance and best gaming experience.

This shouldn’t impress you the most since the iPhone X will comfortably handle anything you can throw at it. With the bigger RAM in the iPhone XS, Apple suggests that apps will load up to 30 percent faster on the iPhone Xs. There is also a significant change in the battery. The iPhone XS last half an hour longer per day on average with the battery capacity of 2800mAh.

Other Features

One of the notable features of the phones is the TrueDepth front-facing camera, which is capable of scanning your face, even in the dark, enabling you to unlock your phone anywhere anytime. Apple also added some technology to enable your facial expressions to animate fun creatures in the shape of Animojis. The iPhone XS support dual SIM which is great since most flagship phones now support dual SIM. In all the spec and category, both phones will perform well.

iPhone XS VS iPhone X: Price

At launched date, the iPhone X is selling at a price of $1000 with 64GB of storage which is still effective till date. The iPhone XS with 64GB cost around $999, while the one with 256GB cost $1,149 and lastly the bigger model with 512GB will sell at a price of $1,349.

Our Verdict

It shouldn’t surprise you that the iPhone XS is slightly better than the iPhone X since it’s the latest phone available. The iPhone XS has a longer battery life, and a few other tweaks to make it more appealing, and above all, it will perform better with the latest Apple chip on the inside.

The difference with the iPhone X isn’t that big as you may think. However, upgrading to iPhone XS when you already have the iPhone X isn’t a wise decision since Apple has already released an update to their latest iOS 12 which you can easily update over the air.

Besides, both phones still maintain the same body design and screen display. There is no tangible reason to upgrade to iPhone XS except you want to go for a bigger storage of 512GB and 4GB of RAM. The choice is all yours to make.
