In the past week, UMi released its new device, the UMi Iron Pro, a device which uses metal body design, with 5.5 inch 1080p screen, MTK 6753 Octa-core processor, 3 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM. In this article, we will make a comparison in terms of design and specifications, between this device and LeTV Le1S, a metallic unibody device, with 5.5-inch Full HD screen, Helio X10 Octa-Core processor, 3 GB RAM and 32GB ROM. Both UMi Iron Pro and LeTV Le1S are metallic unibody devices with rounded corners. Regarding dimensions, the UMi Iron pro has a thickness of 7.9 mm and weighs 148g, while LeTV Le1S has a thickness of 7.5 mm, and weighs 169g. As we can see, there are almost no differences in terms of weight and dimensions. But nevertheless, Umi Iron Pro incorporates a skyline notification LED, so users will never miss a notification again.

Both UMi Iron Pro and LeTV Le1S have a 5.5-inch Full HD screen. Nevertheless, they use different technologies, because, while UMi Iron Pro uses an LCD panel, LeTV Le1S uses an In-Cell one. Moreover, UMi Iron Pro incorporates MiraVision Technology, which allows users to create their own color configurations. Generally, mid-range devices use to have HD and not Full HD displays, but, in this occasion, either Xiaomi and UMi wanted to stand out from its range devices.


One of the most important things to consider when buying a new smartphone is performance. In this aspect, we can find some differences, because, while UMi Iron Pro includes a MTK 6753 Octa-core processor, LeTV incorporates a Helio X1, also Octa-Core. Like the majority of current mid-range and high-end devices, the LeTV Le1S incorporates a fingerprint reader, which allows users to authenticate into the device on a secure way. However, this option is not suitable for all users; for this reason, UMi has decided to implement three types of biometric security in the UMi Iron Pro: fingerprint ID, eyeprint authentication and voice unlock. Both devices have the fingerprint sensor located at the rear, but they present some differences, because, while UMi Iron Pro implements an advanced authentication protocol which allows users to authenticate in 0,3s without need to turn the screen on, LeTV has no yet made the slightest pronouncement on it.

Both devices incorporate similar cameras, with a 13-megapixel sensor. Nevertheless, while UMi Iron Pro mounts a Sony IMX214, one of the most powerful sensors of the market, LeTV Le1S uses a Samsung one, whose model has not been unveiled.

Another difference appears if we look to the front camera, because, while UMi Iron Pro incorporates an 8-megapixel sensor equipped with LED flash, LeTV Le1S uses a modest 5-megapixel sensor without flash.

The system is one of the main differences between this two phones, because while UMi Iron has a light interface with barely changes from pure Android, ideal for all types of users, LeTV Le1S has its own firmware, called EUI, which is different from the traditional Android system. In addition, UMi Iron Pro incorporates some interesting additional features such as an intelligent power saving mode, or a heart rate and stress level monitoring app, which allows users to have a better experience with their phone.

As we have seen in this article, both UMi Iron Pro and LeTV Le 1S are similar devices; however, UMi Iron Pro incorporates a few details such as three kinds of biometric security, or a Samsung sensor, which make them more attractive. Nevertheless, we need to look at the price in order to fairly compare these two devices. Nowadays, LeTV Le 1S costs $209, while UMi Iron Pro can be purchased for $179.99, so there is a significant price difference, given the differences between both smartphones.
