LG V30S ThinQ VS LG G7 ThinQ: LG’s ThinQing smartphones. LG have extended the ThinQ into their smartphones. The LG ThinQ is said to be brand from the South Korean company, which brings together premium appliances and consumer electronics under one banner. Products that bear the ThinQ branding will be artificially intelligent, which means the products will have the help of artificial intelligence. The first smartphone under the ThinQ platform is the LG V30S ThinQ, which is an upgrade to the 2017’s LG V30.

Following the LG V30S ThinQ is the LG G7 ThinQ. The LG G7 ThinQ is an upgrade to the 2017’s LG G6. According to LG, more smartphones are on the way under the ThinQ platform, like the LG V35 ThinQ. Both the LG V30 ThinQ and LG G7 ThinQ have A.I powered cameras. Although the name ThinQ sounds somehow to the ear than any new initiative or development is welcomed in the technology market. So aside from being AI-powered smartphones what other similarities do these two smartphones have in common or are there any differences.

While the LG V30S ThinQ is more similar in design to the LG V30, it still features a front and backs Corning Gorilla Glass 5 like the LG G7 ThinQ. Regarding durability, the V30S ThinQ and G7 ThinQ are on the same level. They both have an IP68 certified rating, which means they are water/dust resistance. And also a MIL-STD-810G military test rating. The LG G7 ThinQ weighs more and is bulky compared to the LG V30S ThinQ. Weighing just 158 grams and measuring 7.3mm thickness is the LG V30S ThinQ. While the LG G7 ThinQ is 7.9mm thick and weighs 162 grams.

At the back of the smartphones is their respective dual rear camera, fingerprint sensor, LED flash and brand names. Their dual rear camera is centered with that of the V30S ThinQ in a horizontal position and the G7 ThinQ in a vertical position. The LG V30S ThinQ and G7 ThinQ come in New Platinum Gray and New Moroccan Blue body colors. While the LG G7 ThinQ has two extra color variants; New Aurora Black and Raspberry Rose.

LG already said the OLED touchscreen would be exclusive to their V-series. And I think that’s one big con of the LG G7 ThinQ. The LG V30S ThinQ comes with a P-OLED 6.0-inch touchscreen and stretches up to 81.2% screen-to-body ratio. While the LG G7 ThinQ had to settle for an IPS LCD 6.1 inch touchscreen, stretching up to 82.6% screen-to-body ratio.

Though the G7 ThinQ features better display resolution than the V30S ThinQ, the OLED display on the V30S ThinQ still makes it a winner here. The LG V30S ThinQ has an 18:9 aspect ratio display, 1440 x 2880 pixels and 557 pixels per inch density. While the G7 ThinQ sports a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 1440 x 3120 pixels with 564 pixels per inch density.

The cameras of the V30S ThinQ and G7 ThinQ is assisted by artificial intelligence. The LG G7 ThinQ has more camera quality on paper than the V30S ThinQ. The dual rear camera of the LG V30S ThinQ consists of a primary 16MP f/1.6 sensor combined with a secondary 13MP f/1.9 sensor. While the dual rear camera of the G7 ThinQ features a primary and secondary 16MP sensors. The primary sensor has a f/1.6 aperture while the second sensor has a f/1.9 aperture. Both the primary sensors of the V30S ThinQ and G7 ThinQ features Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). For the front camera, the LG G7 ThinQ is equipped with an 8MP f/1.9 sensor. While the V30S ThinQ is equipped with a 5MP f/2.2 sensor.

LG V30S ThinQ VS LG G7 ThinQ – Hardware and Software

It will have been cool if the LG V30S ThinQ is powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset. But instead, it is powered by last year’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. While Snapdragon 845 chipset powers the LG G7 ThinQ. The Adreno 540 graphics processing unit powers the graphics of the V30S ThinQ. While the Adreno 630 graphics processing unit runs the graphics of the G7 ThinQ.

They both run on LG UX 6.0 skin on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. The LG V30 ThinQ comes in a standard 6GB memory with 128GB storage. The 256GB storage version is called LG V30S+ ThinQ. While the LG G7 ThinQ also comes in a 6GB memory with 128GB storage version. And a reduced 4GB memory with 64 storage version.

The LG V30S ThinQ packs a non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery, which is slightly better than the non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery on the G7 ThinQ. They both have the same version of fast battery charging and uses the same USB 3.1 Type-C charger.

LG V30S ThinQ VS LG G7 ThinQ – The Price

The LG V30S ThinQ cost around $950 (N332,500). That’s cheaper compared to about $1,006 (N352,100) the LG G7 ThinQ is sold for. Instead of buying the LG V30S ThinQ, just add about $56 (N19,600) and go for the G7 ThinQ. You’d get better camera quality, better display, and better hardware.
