We will be looking at the network providers and their support for different 3G/4G LTE Bands and frequencies in South Africa. There aren’t that much network providers in South Africa, unlike in the US where they have over 10 network providers.

The are about only 4 network providers in South Africa and we will be looking briefly into those 4 Networks before dissecting their 3G/4G LTE Bands and frequencies.

We have Vodacom which was formerly Vodafone. The second one being MTN, formerly called M-Cell which is owned MTN Group. MTN is a multinational telecommunication company that has been offering its services in many African countries, like Nigeria, Benin, and Ghana just to name a few. The remaining being Cell C, a telecommunication company in South Africa owned by 3C Telecommunication and lastly, Telkom which is somewhat state-owned with about 35% of it shares belongings to the government. However, they’ve spread their wings to other countries, operating in over 30 countries in Africa.
