Last month a mysterious Samsung smartphone surfaced, with the model number SM-G8850. The device was certified by TENAA, a Chinese authority. That is a requirement for smartphones to be released in China. An additional advantage is that details and photos leak prematurely. Now we can get acquainted with the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star.

The accompanying photos showed a dual camera at the rear, positioned vertically. This made the mysterious Samsung smartphone immediately think of the iPhone X. A remarkable move, considering Samsung was just one of the few manufacturers so far that did not run after Apple. The Galaxy S9 is, for example, one of the few flagships without a notch.
It has already been speculated that this unannounced device will become a Mini variant of the Samsung Galaxy S9. New rumors suggest, however, that it is the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star. Yesterday an alleged video of the device surfaced. The short clip shows both the front and back of the smartphone.
This leak also confirms the name again. Yes, the positioning of the camera is reminiscent of the iPhone X, but it does have an additional advantage: you no longer stain the lens, looking for the fingerprint scanner. With the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 that was pretty problematic.
Thanks to the previous certification, we also know more about the specifications. The Samsung Galaxy A9 Star has a large, 6.3-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2220. Under the bonnet is a 2.2GHz octa-core processor in combination with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
A hefty 3700 mAh battery should help you through the day. The dual camera setup consists of a 24MP sensor and a 16MP sensor, selfies can be taken with a 24MP camera. The total package runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. Hopefully, we will know more about a possible unveiling in the coming weeks!
