Motorola has made it known on its social media channels that the Moto G4 Play will be launched in India on the 6th of September. The Moto G4 Play is the third device in the Moto G4 series that was announced earlier this year in May.

The Moto G4 Play was announced shortly after the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus were announced in May. The Moto G4 Play is a budget android device and is expected to be the least expensive device in the Moto G series of smartphones.

Moto G4 Play Specifications

Display & Design

The Moto G4 Play is the smallest among its siblings, featuring a 5-inch HD display with a pixel resolution of 1280 * 720 to give you true representation of images and icons on the screen.

The Moto G4 Play is designed for ease of use, featuring a curved back and rounded edges. It looks like a smaller version of the Moto G4, which it actually is.

Memory & Performance

The Moto G4 Play gives you a deviation from the normal in terms of processor speed. It is powered by a Quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor with a speed of 1.4GHz.

Its processing abilities are further extended by an Adreno 306 GPU which takes the burden of graphics processing off the Snapdragon processor.

Despite the fact that it is a budget device, the Moto G4 Play does not disappoint in terms of storage. It comes with 2GB of RAM capacity and 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a micro SD card.

You may not be expecting much from the Moto G4 Play in terms of battery life, but the smartphone surprises us by packing a 2,800mAh battery with Motorola’s fast-charge mechanism Quick Charge capabilities.

The Moto G4 Play supports 4G LTE network connectivity for super-fast uploading and downloading of files to and fro the internet. It also comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for fast wireless internet surfing, fast transfer of files with Bluetooth 4.1 LE, and accurate location determination with GPS.

The phone comes with a dual SIM slot which gives access to the network goodies it has to offer, and a micro SD slot for internal storage expansion. The phone also supports FM Radio.

The Moto G4 Play sports an 8-megapixels camera unit at the back, and a 5-megapixels camera unit at the front. The rear camera uses lens with a f/2.2 aperture, is equipped with a LED flash for low-light shooting and is capable of recording videos at a Full HD resolution.

The front camera uses lenses with the same aperture width of the rear camera, but is not similarly equipped with a LED flash like its vertically opposite partner.

Software and Hardware

The Moto G4 Play runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with few UI tweaks and customisation by Motorola.
