The Nokia 6.1 Plus was introduced in Hong Kong as the Nokia X6 smartphone for the global market. The device looks quite identical to the Nokia X6 we reported earlier here on TecHLecToR.
As expected, it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will be part of the Android One program. You only get 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage space here on the 6.1 Plus compared to the different variants on the X6. Lets find out more.
There’s no major difference in terms of design here. It has an aluminium alloy rear body with glass on top and sports an aluminum frame as well. There’s a vertical placed foundation at the top middle which houses dual rear cameras and the LED flash.
The fingerprint scanner comes underneath, while the Nokia logo is seen below before the Android One inscription. If measures 8mm in thickness and weighs 151g overall. You should be able to get it in Black, Blue and White colors.
The front is also the same with what we saw on the X6, you get a small notch at the top which houses the usual features. This gives you more screen than bezels. While the bottom chin houses another Nokia logo.
Overall, the 5.8-inch FHD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen dishes out an 19:9 aspect ratio. It boasts of 1080 x 2280 pixels in resolution and 432 pixel per inch density. It stretches up to 81.5% screen-to-body ratio with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, it houses the Snapdragon 636 from Qualcomm. This brings its 14nm manufacturing process and 8-cores of processor to the table. The octa-core processor reaches a max speed of 1.8GHz, while the Adreno 509 handles graphics.
For multitasking, you get a standard 4GB of RAM space available. While in the storage department, you get 64GB space which is ready to accommodate all your files. You can upgrade up to 400GB if you can let go of the SIM slot 2. The Nokia 6.1 Plus runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Android One).
At the rear, you get dual 16MP + 5MP cameras for photography, the 16MP rear shooter has f/2.0 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, PDAF and gyro-EIS). While the 5MP depth sensor has f/2.2 aperture and 1.2µm pixel size. There’s a dual-LED dual-tone flash and other features like touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR. For selfies, the 16MP shooter at the notch has f/2.0 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size.
Powering the Nokia 6.1 Plus is a 3060mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.8 hours.
