Nokia 7 Plus will receive Android 9.0 Pie by September. HMD Global has confirmed the development at the launch of the Nokia 6.1 Plus, which took place on Tuesday. In particular, the Nokia 7 Plus is among the models on which it is currently testing the latest version of Android under the Beta program.

The laptop earlier this week received the Developer Preview 5 (Beta 4) of Android P, which is quite close to the public version of Android 9.0 Pie. Along with updates on the Android Pie update, HMD Global has released an important update for the Nokia Camera app that gets Google Lens integration and other important features, such as Google Motion support. The updated Nokia Camera app is available for download via Google Play.

Juho Sarvikas , Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, during his speech at the Nokia 6.1 Plus launched in New Delhi announced that the Nokia 7 Plus will receive the Android 9.0 Pie update in the first half of September. Sarvikas told reporters that the Nokia 7 Plus will be the first Snapdragon 660 device to have Android Pie.

Also, the “mid-range” Nokia could be one of the few non-Google devices that will be equipped with Android 9.0 Pie already within next month. Moreover, considering the historical record of HMD Global regarding the delivery of updates, it is likely that other Nokia models will soon receive Android 9.0 Pie.

Launched in February with Android 8.0 Oreo, the Nokia 7 Plus received an update to Android 8.1 Oreo in April. The handset also got 4G LTE support for the second SIM card, in addition to the May security patch.

In addition to setting up Android Pie for Nokia 7 Plus, as mentioned, HMD Global has updated the Nokia Camera app with lots of new features. The app added the Google Lens integration to allow the user to take advantage of Google’s machine learning algorithms, so as to identify all the objects that appear in the environment that you want to photograph. There is also the support of Google Motion that allows you to make short videos of their moments and share them as GIFs or clips.
