After ceasing of production and sales of it’s predecessor OnePlus 5 six months ago, the upgrade or should I say replacement is the new OnePlus 5T. This is what happened with the OnePlus 3T after launching the OnePlus 3 so this is not really a surprise. Now if you know the OnePlus 5 you would testify that it is a nice phone with top notch specs. However, things just got better with the OnePlus 5T, the smartphone has a more reduced bezel in combination with a bigger size. In addition, it has a 18:9 aspect ratio which is similar to smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S8, iPhone X, Google Pixel 2 XL, LG V30 an so on.
Overall, the design is more or less the same although the OnePlus 5T has a bigger size which is the biggest by OnePlus so far. In addition there is a slightly improved camera and a revamped software. Aside this, the OnePlus has a new nicely tweaked design which in combination with it’s specs sheet is sure to give all other high end flag ships a run for their money.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
As I said earlier the OnePlus 5T has a stiking similarity to the OnePlus 5 apart from the bigger display though. Apart from that, the bezels below and above the phone has been trimmed leading to a drastic relocation of the navigation keys and fingerprint scanner. This has increased the screen to body ratio to about 80.5% with the fingerprint scanner is now at the back of the device.
OnePlus still retainsthe aluminium alloy metallic unibody to build the 5T smartphone that looks and fells both great in the hand. The curved rear also makes it very much easier to handle and also garner some points in terms of aesthetics. The OnePlus 5T has a dimension of 156.1 x 75 x 7.3 mm and weighs about 162g.
There is really not much changes in the display department has the OnePlus 5T retains its full HD 1080 x 2160 pixel AMOLED display which is the same with the OnePlus 5. However, there is an inreased screen size to a massive 6.01 inches and a pixel resolution of 401ppi alongside the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
CPU, OS AND STORAGE
Initially a rumour was circulating about a new Snapdragon 836 in the new OnePlus 5T but that is not the case has Qualcomm has yet to release any other processor after the Snapdragon 835 SoC. This makes the OnePlus 5T pretty much the same with OnePlus 5 in the hardware department with same Adreno 540 graphics processing unit (GPU). It features an Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the Oxygen OS 4.7 user interface.
OnePlus 5T has two variant, one his a 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the other on features an 8GB RAMN with an internal storage of 128GB.
BATTERY AND CAMERA
A number of changes has been made to the OnePlus 5T and the battery capacity is not one of them. It has the same Lithium Polymer non removable 3300mAh battery present in the OnePlus 5. A slight change has been made to the rear camera has there is now a dual camera setup of 16MP and 20MP whie the front camera has a 16MP sensor.
