How to Remove a Stuck Music Player Widget From your iPhone Lock screen

Recently, I discovered music player widget being stuck on the lock screen on my iPhone. This was quite annoying and it kind of marred my music time. I tried fixing it using a few tricks and fortunately, one of them worked in removing a stuck music player widget from the iPhone Lock screen.

Have you also experienced this issue on your iPhone or iPad? I assure you that when you follow the solutions described below, you will be able to fix it. Head over to try them out.

The Rule: Start with the first solution and if it able to help you fix the issue—Great! If it fails to fix it, proceed to the next solution and keep trying until the issue is eventually fixed.

Solution #1: Force Quit The Music Player App

One of the main villains that could be the cause of this issue is the music app you recently used on your iPhone or iPad. Whether it is Apple Music or Spotify, you need to force quit it. Simply double-click the Home button to open the App Switcher and then swipe upwards on the app card to force quit the app.

If you use an iPhone X, you need to swipe up from the bottom of the screen and then pause to bring up the app switcher. There, look for the music app you want to close. Tap and hold on the app card and then tap on the red minus icon on the app to force quit it.
Once you have force quit the music app, check if the issue has been fixed. If you can no longer find the music app widget on the lock screen, it means that the issue has been fixed. If the widget is still stuck there, proceed to the next tip.

Solution #2. Reboot your iPhone

You should try rebooting your iPhone or iPad. If the first solution didn’t help you fix the issue, you should reboot your device. This little trick helps a lot in fixing many problems and as such, it would be wise to try it out.

Just press and hold the ON/OFF button o your iPhone or iPad and then swipe to power off. If you use an iPhone 8/8 Plus or iPhone X, you need to press and hold the side button and either the volume up or down button. Next, slide to power off.
When your iPhone or iPad has restarted, the issue should be fixed. If it is, wonderful! If it still isn’t, move on to the next solutions.

Solution #3: Delete the Faulty Music App

It is time to delete the faulty music app and reinstall it. You can delete not just third-party music app but also Apple’s music app. To do so follow the steps below.

  1. Tap and hold on the app icon.
  2. When the icon starts wiggling, tap on the “X” button.
  3. Next, tap on Delete in the pop-up to confirm your action.
  4. Next up, click the Home button to exit the edit mode.

If you use an iPhone X, you can simply tap on Done at the top right corner to stop the other apps from wiggling.

Solution #4. It could be a Bluetooth issue

Your car’s Bluetooth stereo might be the cause of this issue. At times, the music widget tends to get stuck on the Lock screen even after you have gotten out of your car or not using it anymore. To fix this, unpair both devices and disconnect them from each other’s settings.

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Next, tap on Bluetooth and then you need to tap on the “i” icon next to your car stereo.
  3. Now, you need to tap on “Forget This Device” and then confirm the action.
  4. Next, go to your car stereo and then open settings
  5. Now, you need to unpair your iPhone and reboot it.

If this trick helps you fix the issue, great! However, if the music widget is still stuck on your iPhone, you need to disconnect your iPhone from all the Bluetooth accessories.

Solution #5. Restore Your Device

With the way I have encountered this issue a couple of times, I can say you will not need to take this radical step in most cases. However, if none of the tricks we have explained above has worked for you, you should then proceed to try out this trick. In this one, you will need to restore your iPhone as new. Before you proceed, make sure to backup your device first.

That is all!
