Following several rumours, renders and image leaks revolving around a supposedly upcoming successor of the 2017 version of the Galaxy A5 smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) has finally come to life. The device has been officially launched and we dedicate this piece to carefully take a look at the device under the headers below. Let’s do some breakdown.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The design and appearance of the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) conforms with that of earlier rumours. The device comes with a quiet and less busy frontal as only the large display (which has a 78.4% screen-to-body ratio), the secondary camera, earpiece and the proximity sensor playing occupancy.
On the rear, there is a rectangular shaped fingerprint sensor which is neatly placed beneath the primary camera. The volume adjustment keys and power/lock/unlock button are awkwardly placed at the left hand side. I deemed it awkward because majority of smartphones and smartphone manufacturers placed these keys at the right for easy access and because most smartphone users operate their device with their right hands.
Moving on, there is a single button on the right. The key is the button dedicated to launching Samsung’s native digital virtual assistant, the Bixby Assistant.
High quality curved glass screen
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) comes with a 5.5 inch Full High Definition (FHD) Super AMOLED display. The screen comes with a 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution and a high 439 ppi pixels density. To offer protection against dust and scratches, the Galaxy A5 (2018) comes with an unspecified version of Corning’s Gorilla Glass. However, to further protect the screen, you can purchase an external glass screen protector.

PROCESSOR, OS AND STORAGE
Ever since news about the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) surfaced, one of the feature that turned heads was the operating system of the device. The 2018 Galaxy A5 will come out of the box with the latest Google’s OS; the Android v8.0 Oreo operating system.
Samsung used its own Exynos System-on-Chip on the Galaxy A5 (2018); the Exynos 7 Series (7880) 64-bit chipset to be precise. There are 8 Cortex-A53 cores (Octa-Core) which all runs at a speed of 1.9GHz.
Per storage, the device comes stocked with 4 GB of RAM for smooth, fluid and sleek launching, running and multitasking of applications. The combination of a fast processor and a large amount of RAM puts this device in a position where user experience would be enjoyed to the fullest. Nobody wants a device that lags, right?
To keep media, personal and application files, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) comes with 32 GB of built-in storage capacity. Should in case the internal memory gets small for your storage needs, there is a dedicated Micro SD card slot for expansion up to 256 GB.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2018) comes with a twin camera system. Twin in the sense that it has a 16 Megapixels camera on the rear as its primary camera, and also, a 16 Megapixels camera up front as the secondary camera for selfie purposes.
To keep the Galaxy A5 (2018) up and running, a 3,300 mAh Lithium Ion battery is on board to handle the task. The battery is non-removable but charges relatively fast due to the device Quick Charge technology feature.
