Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) Launched – Specs & Price

Apart from releasing the massive Galaxy J Max Tablet, Samsung has also released the long expected Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) with a modest array of specs. The device also features a somewhat new feature which Samsung calls Smart Glow LED notification feature and also Turbo Speed Technology (TST).

The Smart Glow LED notification feature is a ring-type LED indicator on the back side of the device which glows in different colors when there is a notification like e-mails, SMS, missed calls etc, on the device. The feature also alerts users if they are running low on battery, internal memory, or mobile data. In addition, users can set up to four alerts with customized colors.

Apart from that, the Smart Glow Selfie Assist feature is also touted to assist users who would like to take selfies with their rear camera unit. You’ll agree it could be a bit trick to use the rear camera to take selfie shots but with the Smart Glow, it becomes easy. all it does is illuminate when it detects the face and the camera takes the photo in few seconds.

On the other hand, the Turbo Speed Technology (TST) which the Galaxy J2 (2016) features promises superior device performance including native apps loading up to 40% faster than devices with double the RAM. The TST feature also proactively shuts down idle processes running in the background and declutters RAM using its intelligent memory system to ensure resources like RAM and processor are free and ready to take on new tasks, thereby extending fastest in-class experience.

In other aspects, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) pops packing a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display which has a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. The mid-range device is powered by the 1.5 GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor with Mali-400MP2 GPU and has 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB with microSD card slot.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) OS out-of-the-box and also comes with Ultra data saving (UDS) mode powered by Opera Max and S bike mode.
The mid-range device will feature an 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
Various customary connectivity options are available and they include; 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and 3.5mm audio jack with FM Radio support as well.

The sleek Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) comes in  three colors; Gold, Silver and Black (again, what’s with Samsung and Gold colors?). The device carries a price tag of Rs. 9,750 in India (about $145 in the US) and will go on sale from July 14 across all channels. In India, the device will comes with 6 months double data offer for Airtel prepaid worth up to Rs. 4,500.
