Samsung Mobile is officially launching the Galaxy Xcover 4, a smartphone designed and built for rugged outdoor use and extreme conditions. The device is expected to be released in April but before then, let’s have a look at what the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 G390 under Galaxy Series is made of.
DESIGN & DISPLAY
Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 has a “rugged and solid” body. It has dimension 146.2 x 73.3 x 9.7 mm and weighs 172g (when weighed with battery). The Galaxy Xcover 4 has the volume buttons engineered to the left side of the device, the lock/power button to the right and 3 hard navigation keys just below the screen. The camera and flashlight can be found at the rear of the device just on the back plastic cover.
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 G390 display is sized 5 inches and enhanced with IPS LCD Capacitive TouchScreen capable of displaying up to 16M Colours. Display Resolution of this phone is 720 x 1280 pixels. The pixel density is 294 ppi and the display supports Multi-Touch and “Glove Touch” – yes, you can navigate the screen with your gloves on.
PROCESSOR & OS
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 G390 is equipped from the factory with Android Nougat 7.0 Operating System. The device is run by the Exynos 7570 Chipset and the 1.4 GHz Quad Core processor handles device processes. The Xcover 4 has 2GB (LPDDR3) RAM and internal storage space of 16 GB. Multitasking shouldn’t be a hard task for the Xcover 4. The storage space can expand up to 256 GB with the use of a MicroSD card.
The Xcover 4 features a 13MP primary camera. The 13MP camera is placed mid top the device’s rear. There is also a LED flash beside it for highlight image capture. The rear camera produces HD quality snaps at 4128 x 3096 Pixels Resolution and videos at 1080p FPS quality. Some other camera features include Date tagging, GPS based Geo Tagging, Autofocus, Touch Focus, Self-timer, Face Detection, Smile detection, HDR, Face Beauty, Voice Capture and Gesture Shot.
On the front, a 5MP selfie shooter is at the top right corner. The selfie camera can also produce high-quality images under low and high light conditions.
All the processes on the Galaxy Xcover 4 are powered by a 2,800 mAh battery pack. There is no information on the availability of fast charge technology on the device.
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 is expected to launch with a price tag of 259-euro ($272).
Given that the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4 focuses on ruggedness, it is very suitable for people like construction workers, military men or people who generally engage in field work and still, want to have a good device. The 5 feet underwater threshold too makes it a suitable device to take swimming or for usage in the bathroom and kitchen. Now, how’s that for ruggedness? Perfect I’d say.
