Users of the Xiaomi Mi 10 have taken to the Xiaomi community to file complaints about the volume of their phone’s speaker lowered after they updated their phones to the latest MIUI 12 development version 6.15. According to the users, the speaker of the phones sounds much less loud than it did before they installed the update.
Given the massive amount of users complaining about the issue, some users who made complaints were contacted by Xiaomi engineers and were even offered a scheduled visit. During the visit, the engineers compared the loudness of the speaker of the affected phones to other phones of the same model running the previous version. They even took the affected models back to the company’s anechoic room but they still ended up with similar results.
The engineers measured the loudness of each volume block, and both versions sounded exactly the same at the highest level. According to the MIUI team, Xiaomi has not changed the audio tuning configuration of the development version since April.
Well, this issue might really have not been an issue after all but one thing we have learned from this is that Xiaomi provides really great support for its users especially in terms of software. Only the biggest smartphone companies offer this type of support especially when it comes to software.
We’re not trying to say Xiaomi is perfect anyway. The controversial Android 10 update of the Xiaomi Mi A3 and the debacle from the Mi Mix 3 5G isn’t yet forgotten especially in the minds of the affected users. But still, the company is putting in some efforts into keeping users satisfied on the software end.
