Spotify is, without a doubt, the most famous music streaming service in the world. However, many expected Apple Music to outpace the previous number of users.
However, this did not happen. The latest data revealed by Statista prove that Spotify now has about 96 million Premium users. Consequently, there are more than 207 million people who listen to their favorite artists daily through the app.
On the other hand, Apple Music ended up registering a more slowed growth in 2018, the reason why it holds “only” 50 million users that pay for the music service. That is, 20 million more than the previous year.
The one that seemed to be a drawback from being late for Apple, is translating into an obvious defeat. Truth be told, even though Apple Music can be used on Android, the truth is that few will have the service of the company Cupertino by itself.
In fact, the Swedish company has everything to become twice as big as the competitor as far as the two rival services are concerned. In addition, as you may have noticed, Spotify has acquired two large companies whose specialty has to do with podcasts.
Today, listeners of podcasts of all sorts have been steadily increasing. It makes sense that Spotify has opted for this acquisition.
No doubt that it will be an important aspect to grow even more in 2019. Finally, the question is whether it will continue to grow more strongly than Apple Music and how Tim Cook will be able to combat this trend.
