The Cube Mix Plus is a successor to the Cube i7 Book tablet PC. And just like its predecessor, the Mix Plus comes with the same design. From the memory, storage size, camera resolution and even screen, both devices are very similar. The differences are in the display size and the new chipset used in the Mix Plus: a 7th generation Intel Kaby Lake Core M3-7Y30 CPU and a faster Intel HD 615 GPU. This newer processor offers a higher turbo frequency over the 6Y30 processor used in the Cube i7 Book supporting frequency of up to 2.6GHz as against the 6Y30’s 2.2GHz. The Core M3-7Y30 is proven to be a bit faster and more efficient than its predecessor.
As I have already stated, the Cube Mix Plus and Cube i7 Book tablet PCs are very similar in a lot of ways – especially in design. You can even pass the Mix Plus as the i7 Book on a cursory look. The cameras are still located in the same places as in the i7, there’s the presence of the type-C USB port (for faster charging and data transfer), micro-USB 3.0, micro-SD slot, wireless AC and DC charging support, and so on.
The manufacturer could have done better with the bezel size on this device. The Cube Mix Plus’s bezels are overly large and make the overall device size bigger than normal.
Screen size is 10.6 inches and a Full HD screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. The 1080p screen supports the WACOM stylus for a great stylus experience. The screen is the same old one as used in the Microsoft Surface Pro 2.
Memory and Storage
RAM size is maintained at 4GB and internal storage of 128GB SSD. The 128GB SSD offers a large space for storage. And the fact that it is an SSD shows that the device would experience less waiting times than other tablets that use a different storage type. There’s also a microSD card slot for storage expansion if you want more storage space.
This is the major area where the Cube Mix Plus and i7 Book are different. The Intel Core M3-7Y30 dual core processor with a clock speed of 1.61GHz is used in the Cube Mix Plus. I have already stated how fast and more efficient this new processor is. The turbo frequency can reach up to 2.6GHz.
For the graphics processor, the Intel HD 615 graphics processor is integrated in the chipset. This new and improved GPU is very efficient and good at handling graphics and in conjunction with the M3-7Y30 CPU allow for a great software experience.
Released in December 2016, the Cube Mix Plus comes with a single OS – Windows 10 Home. This tablet breaks away from the norm of tablets that feature 2-in-1 Operating Systems. With Windows 10, users are offered a great desktop OS experience with excellent battery management and faster booting times.
It seems like there is a sort of “behind-the-scenes” agreement between Chinese tablet PC manufacturers that 5MP should be the highest standard when it comes to tabs. The Mix Plus comes with the same 2MP+5MP camera combination seen in most Chinese tablets.
The Cube Mix Plus packs a decent 4300mAh Lithium-ion battery. I call the battery size “decent” because although that capacity seems a bit small for a 10.6 inch device, it nonetheless offers an average time usage. The average battery life of the tab is about 4 hours.

The new chipset used in the Mix Plus is what makes it stand apart from other tablets in the same price category. The fast and efficient Core M3-7Y30 CPU and the Intel HD 615 GPU offer a seamless operation that is absent in most other Chinese tablets. Using a WACOM stylus on the Mix Plus provides one of the best stylus experiences on a tablet.
However, Cube could have worked more on the design as the bezels make the device larger than normal. All the same, the Cube Mix Plus is the i7 but with a newer and faster chipset underneath. If you want a fast tablet PC and at a cut-rate price, the Cube Mix Plus should fit your criteria.
