On July 28, IDC released a report about the second quarter of 2016 regarding global smartphone shipments. The report shows global smartphone shipments of manufacturers on the list, ranking Samsung, Apple, Huawei, OPPO and vivo – in that order, from 1 to 5.
One of the brand’s growth caused quite a bit of interest amongst analysts. Forbes said it is Apple’s biggest rival in the Chinese market. Guess which brand it is? It is OPPO! According to reports, OPPO R9 more than 700 million units in just 88 days.
But when it goes to markets outside just China, will OPPO be nearly as successful?
Here’s what foreign media have to say about the OPPO phones:
“The price a bit high”;
“Bottom speaker design is like Apple iPhone 6S Plus, color rose gold and brand logo similar too. OPPO F1 Plus (R9) has similarities to Apple design”;
“Samsung S7’s camera is not better than OPPO R9, which is very strange. But pixel count does not explain all problems.”;
“Software actually only uses the Android 5.1 Lollipop system, and not Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is very disappointing. ColorOS interface cover native Android feels very different. ColorOS is not something everyone can use, and I would rather prefer native AOSP Android”.
It seems like OPPO is trying hard to venture into foreign markets, but isn’t doing very well at it so far. That said, the UMi Max is coming, which uses a strong eight-core processor, a better and higher capacity battery. On top of that, the UMi Max also uses Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a native feel. USB Type-C and expandable memory up to 256GB make the UMi Max a complete package that will be extremely hard to miss!

Another important aspect will be the price. Just wait and watch!
This article clearly shows that UMi is more clear about what they want to deliver. UMi Max wants to beat the OPPO R9 in foreign markets, and probably will!
