The NEXT 1.5 Update for No Man’s Sky came with a whole bunch of new features. These include third-person view, character customization and even emotes. This update is by far the biggest the game has ever had.
With multiplayer being added, it was pretty obvious that character customizations would be needed to help increase immersion and to identify friends in-game. Hello Games really exceeded expectations when it came to character customizations in this new update.
You can choose to play as one of the in-game races including Anomaly, Gek, Vy’keen, Korvax, and Travellers. There are also various armor pieces from which you can choose. You also have color choices for armor.
In the guide below, we will show how to get started in customizing your own character in No Man’s Sky. Read on to learn more.
Where To Start Character Customization
To customize your character, you will first of all need to reach a space station. To get to a space station, you would have to have a functional ship to get off the planet’s surface. Next, you will be able to reach warp speed to get to one of the space stations.
Use the appearance modifier
If you’ve only just started playing No Man’s Sky, this may take you a while as you may have to make some progress through the game’s story to reach these requirements. Otherwise, make your way to the nearest space station.
Next, you will need to find an “Appearance Modifier” in the station. The Appearance Modifier should look just like the image above. It can usually be located on just one side of the station.
Designing your character
Once you have found it, proceed to interact with it to start customizing your character. The modifier comes with a lot of options so make sure to look through every menu to see what they look like. Once you are done, you will be asked if you want to save your changes before you exit.
