Wiko Sunny 4 Plus may also be known as Sunny4 Plus, Sunny4Plus, Sunny 4+, or Sunny4+ but in this review we stick to the smartphone as Wiko Sunny 4 Plus. The release of this mobile device is a little bit sketchy but it seems to have been released in the month of July 2019. It came with PLUS on the name which at the very best we expect it to come with 4G Android but this phone is so down-to-earth that it does not. So we want to look at it in this way and ask ourselves: to what extent is the Wiko Sunny 4 Plus an entry-level smartphone?
Design and Display of Wiko Sunny 4 Plus
This phone comes with the kind of display size you see in many newly released phones of 2019. It comes in regular bar shape and when you look at it, the dimensions are 71.3 x 146.8 x 9 mm, while the weight is 167 grams which is combined with the battery, I can also see that the phone comes as a plastic smartphone.
Here, the display features of Wiko Sunny 4 Plus are among others IPS technology, capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch feature; probably not up to 10 fingers. The screen size is 5.45 inches with 720 x 1440 display resolution. That’s a little better. Display colors are 16 million and there is no secondary display at all. Going further, pixel density is 295 ppi. Display protection includes 2.5D curved glass screen with full lamination technology.
Wiko Sunny 4 Plus has cameras that are of low quality as well. There are just two of them; one to the rear and one to the front. At the rear we find 5 MP MP. The image resolution is also low at 2592 x 1944 while the video performance is 1920 x 2560 pixels. Also, the front side has a selfie camera of 4.92 MP, which is very close to the main camera features too. The cameras are fortified with LED flash. Of course, there are other features like digital zoom, HDR, panorama, face detection, and more.
Hardware and Software
This Wiko Sunny 4 Plus device comes with Android OS v9.0 Pie Go Edition. Wow! You think this is not an entry level smartphone. True? This to me looks like a sham. In addition to that, there are hardware parameters that include Spreadtrum SC9850 chipset with a CPU frequency of Quad-core 1300 MHz, and the GPU is ARM Mali-T820 MP1. All these still mirror an entry level smartphone.
Storage Capacity and Sensors
At the storage, there is memory 1GB of RAM that is not able to increase no matter what. I expected 8GB to be the internal storage but no, it comes with 16GB internal storage and a memory card slot to boost storage further externally up to an undisclosed level or capacity. On the other side, the sensors in this device are proximity, light, and accelerometer. These three are the hallmarks of an entry level smartphone.
Network and Connectivity
Wiko Sunny 4 Plus is not a 4G Android smartphone, in fact, this is one area in which I have disdain for the manufacturers because they know the world is gravitating to 5G internet. Speed composition in this device is nothing to write home about as it is clear that the smartphone will operate slow. I will vouch for any Android Pie device to come as 4G Android.
- Android Pie
- Good display resolution
- Poor battery power
- Low cameras
- Lack of basic sensors
- Lack of 4G internet
Powering the Wiko Sunny 4 Plus is a removable Li-Ion 2500 mAh battery. This phone lacks wireless charging and fast charging options. Is this battery good for a smartphone with Android Pie OS? I don’t think so. However, the manufacturer says the talk time is 53 hours.
Price and Availability
The price of Wiko Sunny 4 Plus is not available for now and that means the buyer may be able to find it in varying prices online at the time of purchase. It is readily available now and has been released in July 2019.
