We reported earlier about the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 tablet that was introduced yesterday in China. This tablet offers great value for money and you might not see another tablet for this price with the features it comes with.
It’s also the first tablet to house the Snapdragon 660 chip, there’s a version that supports 4G LTE as well. The 8-inch screen is absolutely stunning, there’s a massive 6000mAh battery underneath powering it up. Lets meet the Mi Pad 4.
The Mi Pad 4 is very thin for a tablet and that’s the first thing you’d notice when you hold it, measuring just 7.9mm thick. It has an all-metal back that’s not removable obviously. The rear camera at the top left corner seems lonely as it comes alone with no LED flash in sight.
The volume keys and power button are present by the right side, while the SIM tray can be pulled out from the left. There’s a 3.5mm jack on top and a USB Type-C and loudspeaker underneath. It weighs 342.5g overall and available in Black and Rose Gold.
Compared to the Mi Pad 3, the bezels have been drastically reduced on the Pad 4. Xiaomi made sure the front looks like what we typically see in the modern day Xiaomi smartphones. There’s also a selfie focused shooter at the top bezel.
This massive 8-inch FHD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen should make movie nights memorable. It boasts of 1200 x 1920 pixels in resolution and 283 pixel per inch density. Impressively, the screen stretches up to 77.1% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Xiaomi adopted the Snapdragon 660 from Qualcomm for the Mi Pad 4. The chip boasts of a 14nm process technology and an octa-core processor. The 8-cores of processor on this device clocks at a fast speed of 2.2GHz.
Of course, the Adreno 512 graphics processor handles everything graphics related. The version with Wi-Fi supports 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, while the one with LTE has 64GB storage and 4GB RAM. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 skin.
The camera at the rear shouldn’t be underestimated, it’s a 13MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture. Even though there’s no LED flash in sight, you still get the usual internal features like geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR. You can still shoot videos of 1080p@30fps, while the 5MP selfie camera has f/2.0 aperture.
Powering the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is a 6000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with fast charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 3 hours.
